Pine Golfer Wins First Tournament as a Professional

Mike Van Sickle, of Pine Township, has captured his first win as a professional.

Van Sickle won the West Penn Open by six shots over second-place finisher Ryan Sikora, of Greensburg, according to the Post-Gazette.

The newspaper reports that Van Sickle bogeyed No. 10 when his nerves got to him after accidentally seeing his name on the top of the leader board. He went on to shoot a 4-under 68—the only player to shoot under 70 in the final round of the 54-hole event.

The tournament took place at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort's Mystic Rock.
