Post a Photo of a Veteran and Tell Us His or Her Story

We are inviting the community to honor Veterans Day by sharing stories of veterans.

Do you know a veteran whose story should be told? We are inviting the community to tell those stories and upload photos of veterans. Tell a veteran today how much you appreciate their dedication to the country.

Preschoolers Learn Difference Between Veterans and Veterinarians

Youngsters plan a get-together with veterans on Monday

When preschool teacher Jennifer Nicotra asked her students what a veteran is, some told her it was a person who cared for animals. That was a couple of weeks ago and now the RYF Preschool students know the difference between a veteran and a veterinarian. Their excitement about what they have learned was palpable Friday as they rehearsed "God Bless America" for a Monday performance and party for local veterans at their school at the Pine-Richland Youth Center in Richland Township. "The kids plan the whole party; they plan the snacks and gifts," said Nicotra, whose husband Tim is in the 171st Air National Guard Refueling Wing. Also on Friday, veteran John Folmer read H is for Honor: A Military Family Alphabet to the kids. His daughter …

Crank It Up to 11! It's Nigel Tufnel Day!

Oh, and then there's that end-of-the-world thing, too. Thanking veterans for their service is tops on our list of priorities today, but on 11-11-11, there's a lot of other stuff going on — even a debut of a nifty Droid phone.

On this Veterans Day , our first order of business will be to thank those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and perhaps are heading Downtown for the 92st annual parade. But there's a lot on the calendar for today —11-11-11. It's also a day to live life a little bit louder in honor of International Nigel Tufnel Day. Yes indeed, folks: Fans of This is Spinal Tap have taken to Facebook and blogs to declare today a holiday honoring the "Spinal Tap" guitarist and would-be hat salesman best known for cranking up his amp to 11 —"one louder than 10." So nosh on 11 Oreos and enjoy a Spinal Tap clip or two — even laugh yourself silly over the entire movie — in Nigel's honor. Be sure to avoid all music in that "saddest of all keys, D minor." …
