Tyler Gazdik, 19, ordered to stand trial.
A Gibsonia teen served as a lookout and a distraction as his friend burglarized two homes on Ben Miller and Elgro roads in Richland Township in the latter half of 2012, according to testimony from a police detective Wednesday. Tyler Gazdik, 19, is charged with working with the late Stephen Hudec, 20, to burglarize those homes. He also told police he acted alone to take copper pipes and wire coils from a Grubbs Road home in Richland, Hampton Detective Robert Kirsopp testified. Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner ordered Gazdik to stand trial on burglary, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and criminal trespass charges. A Richland teen was arraigned Thursday on charges related to a rash of burglaries in the Pine-Richland area. Tyler Gazdik, 19, of Gibsonia, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner on nine felony burglary and conspiracy charges. He also is charged with theft, a misdemeanor. Gazdik was released from the Allegheny County Jail on a $5,000 bond. He is charged with conspiring with 20-year-old Stephen Hudec to burglarize homes on Richland, Elgro and Ben Miller roads in Richland Township as well as a Pine Township home on Summit Circle, the criminal complaint states. A 20-year-old Richland man is charged with going on a crime spree in the Pine-Richland area, breaking into homes and cars to steal thousands of dollars worth of electronics, a gun, cash and other items to support his drug addiction, according to court documents. Stephen Paul Hudec appeared Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner for a preliminary hearing, but it was postponed for a week. He faces 32 charges—nine counts of burglary; 14 counts of theft; two counts of loitering and prowling at night; three counts of receiving stolen property; and four counts of criminal conspiracy. This is such a very sad situation. My heart goes out to this family, as it is apparent that they were not able to help their child overcome his addiction, leaving them with the heartwrenching feeling of helplessness and failure.
