The Village at Pine has a variety of stores—is something missing?
A storefront in the Village at Pine has opened up and we're wondering what you think should go there. Planet Pittsburgh was the former tenant, but now the space is empty. The storefront is bordered by All That Jazz and Quest Diagnostics in the popular Pine Township shopping plaza that also includes Market District and several restaurants. Wexford Dry Goods recently opened a store close by. So what would be a good business to locate in the busy center? Does anyone dare to try opening a bookstore in these days of Kindles and Nooks? The store in the Village at Pine carries a wide array of sports-related items
Looking for a gift for a Pittsburgh sports fan? Planet Pittsburgh is a good place to go. Located in the Village at Pine in Wexford / Pine Township, the two-year-old store has clothes—from baby sizes to adults—as well as framed photos, team gnomes, bobble heads and more. Owner Jeff Schlichtkrull said sweatshirts are a big seller and he's expanded his store's selection to include Pittsburgh items like cups, snow globes and a pen with an Incline floating in it. You can find jackets, T-shirts, Troy Polamalu Bobble Heads, wine glasses, bibs, a little-girl Steeler cheerleader outfit, Steeler salt-and-pepper shakers, a Steeler birdhouse and caps. New Pine Township store is all Steelers, all the time.
At Planet Pittsburgh in Pine Township, black and gold merchandise is flying off the shelves. A few days before the Steelers play the Jets, Robin Titus was buying dozens of LaMarr Woodley's new "Animal/Beast" t-shirts to hand out to friends and family. Titus has a special connection to the Steelers; she works for the Paul family, who are part owners of the Steelers along with the Rooneys. The shirts were stacked by size along the counter, while store clerk Sarah Schlisctkrull double-checked to be sure she had counted them right. Titus is a frequent visitor to this new Village at Pine store, which Schlisctkrull says opened the week before Christmas. Now that the Wine and Spirits store is under construction, the only thing that shopping center does not have is a STARBUCKS......I would LOVE to see one i that spot!!   more ›
