A flood warning is in effect for Allegheny County.
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Allegheny County and surrounding areas. The warning, which went into effect at 6 p.m. Monday, includes Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence and Washington counties in Pennsylvania. The warning extends until 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service is warning that flooding could hit small streams and urban areas. Port Authority Storm Update: There are currently no storm-related impacts to transit service, and the system is operating under normal conditions. UPDATE: A narrow band of snow will move southeast across Western Pennsylvania this morning, affecting the morning commute, the National Weather Service said in a weather advisory at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. The band might mean a brief burst of snow, reducing visibility and causing slick spots on untreated surfaces, the weather service statement said. Accumulations are expected to be light, but drivers are encouraged to use caution and to prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility, according to the statement. The advisory covers Allegheny, Washington and Beaver counties, Brooke and Hancock counties in West Virginia, and Columbiana County in Ohio. National Weather Service issues hazardous weather outlook.
UPDATE: A snow squall is expected to rapidly drop visibility this afternoon in parts of southwestern Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a special weather statement at 2:38 p.m. The squall will affect southeastern Allegheny County, east-central Washington County, southern Indiana and Westmoreland counties, the weather service said. "Wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible with this snow squall," the weather service website stated. "The snow will rapidly drop visibilities in the squall to less than a quarter of a mile."
