Millvale Man Charged With Stealing Car from Blade Runners Ice Complex in Warrendale

A 22-year-old Millvale man charged with stealing car keys and then the car from the Blade Runners Ice Complex in Warrendale is scheduled for a Nov. 20 formal arraignment. Vanya Michael Russo waived his preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner on Wednesday. He is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property for taking a 2007 Infiniti G35X sedan from the front parking lot about 10 p.m. Sept. 15, the criminal complaint states. The victim told police someone had entered the locker room while he was playing hockey and stole his keys and subsequently his car, which had his wallet, ID and cell phone in it, according to the complaint. Woman Charged With Stealing Pine Man's Credit Card Numbers Waives Hearing

A 19-year-old-old woman is scheduled for a Nov. 20 formal arraignment on charges of stealing credit card numbers from a Pine Township man and using them to buy food and other merchandise. Jalene Goods, of Pittsburgh, waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. She is charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and access device fraud. An identify theft charge was withdrawn. A West View police officer, who also was investigating Goods, told Northern Regional police that Goods admitted to stealing credit card numbers and using them to make purchases at forever21.com, charlotterusse.com, Pescara Pizza and China Sea restaurant, according to the criminal complaint. News Nearby: Sex Offender Jailed After Police Charge Him With Failing to Register His Address

Mahesh Ramn Patel has been required to register as a sex offender since 2007, when he pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a child.

A 50-year-old sex offender facing a felony charge of not registering his address is in the Allegheny County Jail with bail set at $50,000. Mahesh Ramn Patel—who listed a McCandless address—is scheduled for an Oct. 19 formal arraignment. He waived his Sept. 5 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. Patel was arrested in August after the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office conducted a residential check on the Megan's Law registrant at an apartment at 9410 Babcock Boulevard in McCandless, according to a criminal complaint. When Detective Barbara Sparrow went to the apartment in July, the current resident said Patel did not live there, according to the complaint. Sparrow then checked with the property owner, who …

To the Editor: Sometimes people don't receive the recognition they deserve for a service they have provided for a community for 36 years. A good leader will often tend to keep a low profile and not flaunt their accomplishments in doing an exemplary job in their profession. This happens to be the case with Magisterial District Judge Regis Welsh Jr. Judge Welsh served 36 years on the bench as an outstanding jurist. Most people will never have contact with the court system and, therefore, do not know the true value of what the community has really lost. A judge makes decisions every day that have a direct or indirect impact on all residents of any given community. Judge Welsh has been a mentor to many of his colleagues over the years and a …

Seven Fields Man Charged with Resisting Arrest, Drug Possession in Pine Township

A Seven Fields man waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges of resisting arrest, possessing cocaine and driving on a suspended license for an incident that occurred in Pine Township. Seth B. Jelic, 32, also was charged with tampering with evidence and possessing heroin, but the district attorney's office dropped those charges when Jelic appeared before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. Jelic's formal arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 30. Northern Regional police pulled Jelic into the Best Tile Plaza along Route 19 for a traffic stop on May 17, the criminal complaint states. 18-Year-Old Sentenced for Taking Knife to School

Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner sentenced an 18-year-old student Wednesday to 16 hours of community service for bringing a pocketknife to school. James Springer of Gibsonia was found guilty of a summary offense of disorderly conduct for taking a knife to Pine-Richland High School on March 30. "In this day and age, my friend, you shouldn't even have a water pistol at school," Wagner said. When asked by the judge if he had ever been in trouble, Springer answered no.  A teacher was told that Springer was showing the knife to students in the cafeteria, the criminal complaint states. Former Pine Constable Charged with Making False Report to Police

A former Pine constable charged with making a false report to police is scheduled for a July 10 formal arraignment. Eric Ewing, 54, of Gibsonia, waived his preliminary hearing when he appeared last week before Magisterial District Court Judge William K. Wagner. The misdemeanor charge was issued after Ewing told police someone shot a surveillance flare near his Gibsonia home on April 17, police said. A witness later told police that Ewing shot the flare, according to the criminal complaint. Ewing said he believed the flare was an attempt—either from someone with the U.S. government or some faction of organized crime—to send a message that they were watching him, the complaint states.  This week, Ewing faced additional unrelated charges in …

Man to Stand Trial on Charges of Pawning Stolen Property at Waddell's Music Center

Cranberry man charged with felony counts of receiving stolen property, burglary and conspiracy.

For the second time this year, a 23-year-old Cranberry man waived his preliminary hearing on charges related to pawning or trying to pawn $4,460 in stolen musical instruments and equipment at Waddell's Music Center in Pine Township. This time, Tyler Bruce Smith is the defendant. Previously, 23-year-old Jeremy Joseph Sturgeon of Cranberry waived his preliminary hearing in a related case. They are charged as co-conspirators. Smith waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner. His case now moves to the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Two Richland Residents to Stand Trial on Drug Charges

Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner ordered two Richland Township residents Wednesday to stand trial on multiple drug charges. Megan Kifer and her boyfriend, Ernest Nicholas, both 35 and of the same address on Route 910/Gibsonia Road, are charged with two felony counts each of possessing hashish and marijuana with the intent to distribute it, according to the criminal complaint. Each also faces a felony count of criminal conspiracy and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia, the complaint states.  Originally they were charged with 12 counts of possessing controlled substances, but seven of those counts were dropped because the couple have prescriptions for some of the drugs. Target-Shooter to Pay Restitution to Owner of House That 12-Gauge Slug Hit

A man who was target shooting and accidentally hit an occupied Treesdale home pleaded guilty Wednesday to disorderly conduct and agreed to pay restitution to the home owner.  Douglas R. Camann, 31, of Pittsburgh, originally was charged with a felony count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure on South Lake Drive in Pine Township and a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, court documents show. Both charges were withdrawn. Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner noted Camann did community service and had no criminal history when he accepted the plea.
