Nigerian Black Money Scam Alleged During Preliminary Hearing

Lamine Camara ordered to stand trial on charge of possessing instrument of crime after search of car during Pennsylvania Turnpike traffic stop turns up cash and black construction paper cut to size of U.S. currency.

Black paper cut into the size of dollar bills, $183,000 in cash, iodine and other items in the trunk of a car stopped on the Pennsylvania Turnpike looked like the makings of the Nigerian Black Money Scam, a state trooper testified Friday. The testimony came during the preliminary hearings for 27-year-old Lamine Camara and 35-year-old George Leussi, who are originally from Africa, who were charged with producing/trafficking and possession of unlawful device-making equipment, conspiracy, and possession of an instrument of crime. Turnpike Traffic Stop Nets $197,000, Felony Charges

Two Maryland men are charged with possessing unlawful device-making equipment after police find items used in fraud scams, according to court records.

A traffic stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Pine Township resulted in felony charges against two Maryland men after $197,000 in cash and "unlawful device-making equipment" were found in their vehicle's trunk, according to court documents. Lamine Camara, 27, of Greenbelt and George Leussi, 34, of New Carrollton are charged with possessing and producing unlawful device-making equipment and criminal conspiracy, the criminal complaint states. The men appeared before Magisterial District Judge Regis Welsh Jr. last week for a preliminary hearing that was continued until Sept. 23.
