The two performed a selection of popular classical and crossover songs
Pine-Richland songstress Jackie Evancho recently shared the stage with legendary Spanish opera singer Jose Carreras in Taiwan. The two performed the arena concert before an audience of 30,000 on April 20, singing a selection of popular classical and crossover songs, including a duet of Ave Maria (check out the video!). A day earlier, Jackie and Carreras attended a press conference together to discuss the "Cross Generations" concert held in the Changhua County Stadium, Changhua, Taiwan. Carreras, known for his performances in the operas of Verdi and Puccini, said he knew of Jackie because of her success over the past few years and was happy when he heard about the possibility of working with her. Not everyone can say that Pine-Richland singing sensation Jackie Evancho sang a love song at their wedding. But this video posted on Youtube.com and Godtube.com captures a romantic moment as the 13-year-old serenades a lucky bride and groom doing their first dance with "All I Ask of You." The 13-year-old Pine-Richland singing sensation dishes on walking the red carpet, singing with José Carreras and plans for her next album.
It was on the Kean Quest stage five years ago that Mike Evancho first realized his daughter had a gift. “We thought she sounded pretty, but doesn’t every parent?” he said. Her performance at the popular local talent competition at the Kean Theatre in Richland was the first time Jackie Evancho, who at the time had just turned 8, ever sang in public. As she let loose a number from Phantom of the Opera, Mike Evancho recalled seeing jaws drop in the audience. “It kind of went from there,” he said. Jackie wound up coming in a first runner up in the contest, but soon started to receive requests to sing at events around the region, including at a Pittsburgh Pirates game. But perhaps even more excited was Paige Hubanek of Cranberry Township, who Jackie presented with the third annual "Jackie Evancho Award." The award is presented to a contestant who, like Jackie, has competed in Kean Quest for two or more years, works hard, never gives up and continues to follow his or her dreams no matter the outcome of the competition. Paige played the guitar and performed an original composition called “Cold Dreams.” She has competed in Kean Quest for seven years and attends eighth grade at St. Kilian Parish School. Jackie Evancho's movie debut opens in theaters Friday. Monday, Jackie Evancho attended the NYC premiere of The Company You Keep in which the Pine-Richland phenom plays Robert Redford's daughter. Redford directed the political thriller based on Neil Gordon's novel of the same name and spoke to Extra about casting Jackie for the part of Isabel, her acting debut. “I needed a kid that could just be… I’m sitting in the hotel room and I’m surfing TV, boom there comes this beautiful, angelic face on a show called 'America’s Got Talent,' I thought, maybe she could act.
