PR Schools Superintendent Sends Letter to Community About Proposed Budget

Dr. Mary Bucci outlines proposed final budget for 2012-13 school year.

Dear Community:   While school might be winding down, the district continues the difficult task of balancing the budget for the next year.   At its regular meeting on May 21, 2012, the board voted on a proposed final general fund budget for 2012-2013 with total expenditures of $66,849,169 and total revenues of $66,376,549 with a fund balance utilization of $472,619. The proposed final general fund budget would call for a 4.308 percent tax increase to balance the budget bringing the millage rate from 21.9084 to 22.8522. The board will officially vote on the budget and millage increase at the regular meeting on June 25, 2012. PR Schools Superintendent Sends Community Letter about 2012-2013 Budget

The Pine-Richland School Board has started debating what to do with its 2012-13 budget, which has a $2 million gap between revenue and expenses. Public debate is heating up about the possibility of raising taxes and cutting personnel and programs. Today, Superintendent Mary Bucci released the following letter about the budget. Richland Elementary Principal to Leave for Plum Borough School District Job

Guy Rossi to assume assistant superintendent post in January.

Richland Elementary Principal Dr. Guy Rossi will be leaving his job in January to become the assistant superintendent in the Plum Borough School District. The Plum Borough School Board hired Rossi and several other administrators during a special meeting on Tuesday. His contract begins Jan. 2 and ends Dec. 31, 2014. He will be paid $107,000 annually. Rossi said Wednesday that he was excited about the new opportunity, but sad at the thought of leaving. "I will do everything I can to ensure a smooth transition," Rossi said.  "Guy is a fantastic instructional leader and worthy of this promotion," Pine-Richland Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci said. Pine-Richland Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci wants to chat. She has invited the public to “Coffee & Conversation Sessions” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the school district’s administrative office building at 702 Warrendale Road in Gibsonia. The school district’s $63 million budget, the Pine-Richland High School expansion project and strategic planning for the district are some of the topics she said she would like to address. “As parents, you are important stakeholders in our district. Pine-Richland Schools Administrators Appear on VARtek Promotional Videos

The technology company servicing Pine-Richland School District is getting the word out about its work through YouTube and five of its promotional videos star the district's superintendent and assistant superintendent. Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci and Assistant Superintendent Dr. David Foley speak about the district's technological problems and demands and how VARtek provided a "total solution." VARtek, an Ohio-based company that specializes in technology solutions for K-12 schools, contracted with the Pine-Richland School District for $1.2 million in the spring of 2010. Strategic Planning for Pine-Richland Schools Attracts 85 Volunteers

The call for volunteers to help craft a vision of the future of Pine-Richland schools has been answered by about 85 people, said Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci. Three have been tapped for the steering committee that will oversee the effort, Bucci told the Pine-Richland School Board on Monday. She announced that the following people have been chosen to serve: Caitlyn Bogosta – a Pine-Richland Middle School teacher, student government advisor and an alumna of the school district; Andrew Calabrese – a Pine Township resident whose children are at the secondary level of school; and Srikanth Mruthik – a Richland Township resident who is MEDRAD’s director of radiology software and informatics. The Pine-Richland School District is looking for volunteers to help plan for the future in a strategic-planning process. Volunteers will have a voice in the process to shape and guide the school district over the next six years. “The PR School Board is organizing a steering committee and subcommittees to include a broad cross section of our community: students and alumni 18+ years, parents of students, other taxpayers, administrators and faculty/staff members,” said Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci in an announcement asking for volunteers. Having Trouble Calling Pine-Richland School District?

Try these phone numbers if main line does not work.

Having problems giving Pine-Richland School District a ring? Superintendent Dr. Mary Bucci said Monday that the main phone line is not working properly. She is encouraging callers to use these numbers: 724-625-4563 and 724-625-4564 if the district's main number, 724-625-7773, is not working. Bucci said a new phone system will be in place at the beginning of August.  Currently, the district administration offices are in the midst of a construction zone at 702 Warrendale Road in Pine Township. The offices are located at the back of Pine-Richland High School, which is undergoing an expansion and renovation project.

Schools Superintendent Sends Budget Message to Community

In a letter that starts out "Dear Partner in Education," Pine-Richland's superintendent of schools Wednesday informed the community of the school board's recent budget vote that calls for no tax increase. "The Pine-Richland School Board approved a $63 million budget without increasing taxes," Dr. Mary Bucci wrote in an open letter that is published on the district's website. It explains that the 2011-12 general fund budget  "includes total expenditures of $63,900,266 and total revenues of $63,050,546 with a fund balance utilization of $849,720 for capital improvements and potential payouts for retirements."   The months-long budget process was particularly tense this year because the district needed to find $1.5 million in cuts to balance …
