Nearby: Field & Stream Store Coming to Former Dick’s Sporting Goods Location

The outdoors store is a new concept for the sporting goods retailer.

Since Dick’s Sporting Goods closed its location in the Cranberry Square complex off Route 19 in October and moved to a new, two-story building in the Cranberry Crossroads shopping center on Route 228, there have been numerous rumors regarding what would—and should—occupy the former space, including an L.A. Fitness.  Well, the rumors can safely be laid to rest.  Dick’s Sporting Goods has submitted a building permit application to renovate the vacated space into a new sporting goods concept store called Field & Stream, according to Cranberry Township’s business hub. The new store’s target audience is outdoor lovers. The store will provide an expanded selection of hunting, fishing, hiking and camping equipment from what is currently available…

Walmart, Dick’s Suspend Sale of Certain Semi-Automatic Rifles—What Do You Think?

In wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, Dick's Sporting Goods also has removed all guns from the store closest to Newtown, CT.

In the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, two major retailers are pulling the plug on sales of certain semi-automatic weapons nationwide.  Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, has suspended sales of some semi-automatic rifles from all stores. The company, which is headquartered in Moon Township, also has removed all guns from its chain closest to Newtown, CT. In a statement, the store said it ordered the move out of respect for the victims and families of Newtown. Friday’s shooting left 20 children, all between the ages of 6 and 7, and six adults dead. “We are extremely saddened by the unspeakable tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT, and our hearts go out to the …

Black Friday Sales: What Pine-Richland Shoppers Need to Know

While some major retailers plan to open their doors as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, plenty of deals will still await shoppers Friday at Walmart, Target, Best Buy and elsewhere.

With each passing year, it seems Black Friday begins earlier and earlier—6 a.m., then 5 a.m., then 4 a.m. This year, Black Friday actually started on Thanksgiving night. Should you be one of those traditional folks who don't believe in Black Friday shopping until it's actually Black Friday, however, here's what you need to know about shopping opportunities in the northern suburbs. Dick’s to Celebrate Grand Opening With Pirate Neil Walker and Other Pro Athletes

Pine-Richland residents will have a chance to get up close and personal with local professional athletes and coaches this weekend at the grand opening of the new Dick’s Sporting Goods. Located in the Cranberry Crossroads plaza along Route 228, the two-story, freestanding store opens its doors Wednesday. An official launch, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, will be held at 8 a.m. Friday. Special extended store hours will be in effect for Friday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) A variety of special athlete appearances and giveaways are scheduled throughout the weekend to celebrate the relocation.
