Deck the House Winner: Georgia Family Brings Home Top Prize in Second Contest Try

The Felix family from Dallas, GA, received thousands of votes to win Patch's Deck the House contest and $100,000 for the local school district.

In this year's Deck the House contest, the second time was the charm. Joseph Felix's home in Dallas, GA, outshined the other 24 finalists to win the 2012 Deck the House contest and $100,000 for the Paulding County, GA, school district. After placing second in the nationwide voting in the 2011 contest, the Felix home received nearly 11,000 votes this year to finally win Deck the House. The home, with 100,000 computer-animated holiday lights choreographed to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," received about 300 more votes than a home in Coventry, R.I., which finished in second place.  The Felix home was chosen from 24 national finalists, which included two homes in Eastern Pennsylvania—one in Hatboro-Horsham Patch and one in …

We’re launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page from Nov. 26 to Dec. 16 to deckthehouse.patch.com/contest/pine-richland Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. If your house wins, you get your December electric bill paid by Patch. Also, the grand prize winner pulls in $100,000 for the local public school system.

Does your house outshine the others in your neighborhood when it comes to holiday decorations? If the answer is yes, you should seriously consider entering Patch's Deck the House Contest for a chance to win $100,000 for your local public school system, $500 toward your electric bill or bragging rights in your neighborhood. The contest starts Dec. 8 and runs until Dec. 26. Users will vote for the best-decked house in their town. From there, Patch judges will select 24 finalists nationwide, who will get their December electric bills paid by Patch [up to $500].
