Shift Change Celebrates Release of First CD

The trio of area middle-school students already is planning a second CD.

These boys give new meaning to the phrase “young rock musicians.” Although they’re only in middle school, Taylor Krebs, 12, a seventh-grade student at Pine-Richland; Braden White, 13, a seventh-grader at Seneca Valley Middle School; and 12-year-old Jake Curry, a student in the Butler Area School District, already have released their first CD – Short Handed. Known as Shift Change, the group released Short Handed at the end of October. The band already has plans to begin recording a second CD in early spring. The boys met last fall while playing in the North Pittsburgh Wildcats ice hockey league. Free Concert Tonight at Village at Pine

Mahajibee Blues performs at 6 p.m.

A Mahajibee Blues concert tonight kicks off a free summer concert series at the Village at Pine in Wexford. "Rock the Lot" will feature different artists every other Friday at the Village at Pine shopping plaza's flag area just above its signature waterfall at the corner of Route 19/Perry Highway and Wallace Road. "Mahajibee Blues is not your mama's blues.Despite their playful laid back attitude this band is a hot five-piece blues band that will get the folks out of their seats with a rough and tough sweaty blues of their own!" according to the band's website.  Jason Deutsch, general manager of Backstage Guitars, said more of the schedule will be finalized next week for the concerts planned through Aug. 26.
