What is Your Pine-Richland Neighborhood's Median Income?

'Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks' Map is color-coded to show you the median income for your neighborhood. The Pine-Richland area is coming up green and that's a good thing.

An interactive map at the Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks website offers a glimpse at median household incomes, by neighborhoods, in the Pine-Richland area—or anywhere in the country. Take, for instance, the areas around Pine-Richland High School and Wexford Elementary. The median income is $145,668. The numbers are compiled by census tract. The tract that includes Richland Elementary and Eden Hall Upper Elementary has a median income of $77,216. The Hance Elementary area's median is $91,663. In comparison, the statewide middle-class income range is $44,750 and $54,425. The information for the map is obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2007-2011 American Community Survey. Survey Gives Glimpse of Pine-Richland Community

Statistics show characteristics of residents of Pine and Richland townships.

The Pine-Richland community is a well-educated, predominantly white, English-speaking population of about 19,000 people who have not changed residences much lately, according to a recently released survey. The American Community Survey, a new nationwide survey that gives communities a look at how they are changing, covers the five-year period from the first day of 2005 to the last day of 2009.  The survey is one of many the Census Bureau conducts, but is not to be confused with the decennial census taken every 10 years. For those of you who love numbers, here are some of the statistics from the survey: Households: Pine: 3,100 households with an average size of 3.03 people each. Do the math: about 9,400 people.
