Police discover the Honduras native after a traffic stop.
A Honduras native found in Adams Township has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of re-entry into the United States after deportation, according to United States Attorney David J. Hickton. The one-count indictment named Marcio Martinez-Bustamante, 31, as the sole defendant. According to indictment, Martinez-Bustamante, an alien, was removed from the country by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Feb. 26, 2010 and Jan. 26, 2011. Adams Police discovered Martinez-Bustamante was living in the area after officers pulled him over during a traffic stop March 9. A Butler County man faces charges in three counties for bilking thousands of dollars from multiple victims, including a former NFL player now living in Adams Township. Authorities said Robert Osselborn—who lists addresses in Mars, Butler and New Castle, Lawrence County—posed as a representative of a television show about hunting to entice former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Tom Tumulty to give him money. In exchange, Osselborn promised Tumulty a spot in a group trip to Jackson Hole, WY, and said the trip could be recorded and aired on the show, according to investigators.. “He was very legitimate and very detailed about the hunting story,” Tumulty said Tuesday. Mars superintendent sends home letter informing parents of the incident at the district's primary center. Police are reviewing camera footage.
Mars Area Superintendent Dr. William Pettigrew said the district is investigating a report that a stranger was walking on the grounds at Mars Area Primary Center along Route 228 in Adams Township Tuesday morning. In letter sent to parents later that day, Pettigrew said administrators have contacted Adams Township Police about the incident. “Mars Area School District strives to remain proactive in the protection of its students and employees,” Pettigrew wrote. “The district will keep you informed of any additional information regarding this incident, as it becomes available.” As of Wednesday, Adams police still are investigating the incident. At the time of his death, 19-year-old Lagene Lawson was wanted on two arrest warrants, one of which was for aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Driving a stolen car, Lagene Lawson was fleeing from a domestic dispute in Butler in the early morning hours of Aug. 4 when he sped through Adams Township and into Cranberry. There, using a handgun reported stolen, he ended his life in the Cranberry Commons shopping center. Lawson, 19, of New Castle fired a single bullet into his head, fatally wounding himself, according to a statement from Cranberry police. The car, which was still in motion when Lawson killed himself, crashed through the glass front entrance of the Lane Bryant store, causing extensive damage. “It was immediately apparent the driver was deceased and was found to have no signs of life,” Cranberry Sgt. Cranberry Township authorities are expected to release new details in their continuing investigation into what led 19-year-old Lagene Lawson to fatally shoot himself after police pursued him into the Cranberry Commons shopping center early Saturday morning. Lawson, of New Castle, killed himself while still behind the wheel of his moving vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the Lane Bryant store, causing extensive damage. Adams Township police attempted to stop the driver around 3:15 a.m. after Lawson sped past an officer near Mars Area High School on Route 228. Adams Township Police Chief Bill Westerman said today that the attempted abduction of an 11-year-old boy in Treesdale was "a misunderstanding" and the case is solved. The boy told police that two men in a black pickup tried to coax him into their truck at about 4 p.m. Friday as he walked the family's dog in the Adams Township section of Treesdale, according to the boy's mother. The boy ran to a neighbor's house on Old Orchard Drive and called police. The area is just north of the Pine Township border. Westerman said the pickup truck's owner heard reports about the alleged child abduction and had his lawyer call the police chief at about 1:30 p.m. today. The chief would not release the man's name. Police are looking for a black truck in the incident involving an 11-year-old boy who was walking the family dog in the Adams Township portion of Treesdale.
Two men in a black pickup tried to coax an 11-year-old boy into their truck about 4 p.m. Friday in the Adams Township part of Treesdale, according to the boy's mother. The mother, whose name Patch is not releasing to protect the identity of the boy, sent out an email to friends and neighbors that went viral over the weekend. Adams Township Police Chief Bill Westerman said his officers responded to the call on Old Orchard Drive within three to four minutes. Neighboring police departments also were notified immediately to be on the lookout for the black truck. The area is just north of the Pine Township border. Police are still searching for an 18-year-old runaway from the Mars Home for Youth.
After a confession by one of the teens, five of the six teens who are accused of hijacking a limo Wednesday after running away from the Mars Home for Youth are back in custody today. Adams Township Police Chief Bill Westerman said police are continuing to look for an 18-year-old youth who remains on the lam. Pittsburgh Police found four of the teens, ages 15 to 17, hanging out near the stolen limo on Pittsburgh’s North Side during the night. Westerman said he did not know what time the teens were apprehended. A juvenile probation officer brought them back to the Adams Township police department for questioning, he said. Adams Township police are still searching for a half-dozen teen runaways from the Mars Home for Youth who hijacked a limousine early Wednesday morning, leaving the driver stranded. Adams Township Police Chief Bill Westerman said six teenage boys and girls are missing from the facility for troubled youths on Route 228. The missing teens are from communities around Western Pennsylvania, including Allegheny, Westmoreland, Cambria, and Erie counties, he said. Police were called to the home three times early Wednesday because teens were trying to escape from the non-secured facility, he said. The first call, around midnight, involved three missing boys.
