Letter writer Brian Spence credits Pine-Richland Music Department for making him the teacher and person he is today. He is a 1998 Pine-Richland High School graduate.
My name is Brian Spence and I am a member of the Pine-Richland class of 1998. I am currently wrapping up my 8th year teaching music in the Northwestern School District based in Albion, PA. I would not be the teacher or person I am today without the Pine-Richland Music Department. I honestly feel that I was born to teach music. I love my job with a fierce passion and could not be happier at Northwestern. The only district in the entire country that I would even consider leaving my position for is Pine-Richland, my alma mater. A few years ago, I emailed Dave Supinsky to thank him for all the time, patience, and effort he put into my music career. He had a profound influence on me as a musician, as did all of my P-R music teachers, and I …
Letter writer Benjamin R. Campbell, Ph.D., says his Pine-Richland music education was the gateway for invaluable life experiences. He is a 1998 graduate of Pine-Richland High School.
Before I begin, I should disclose that my wife is a Pine-Richland music teacher and would be reduced to a half-time position if the proposed program cuts from the school board’s April 23rd meeting are approved. This concern is secondary to the damage that would be inflicted on the Pine-Richland educational experience if these changes are enacted. I could go on at length about the importance of art, physical education, business education and foreign language in my career, but I will concentrate on music, because it is a passion my wife and I share. I am a proud 1998 Pine-Richland Alumnus. I currently do not live in the district, but my parents still do, and my wife and I would like to move to Pine-Richland before our daughter enters …
Proposed budget also calls for cuts.
When the Pine-Richland School Board meets Monday, it will have a budget proposal before it that calls for a 3.2 percent tax increase and cuts that include 15 teaching positions. That is what the finance committee decided Wednesday night as it considered a budget of about $65 million that has a $2 million gap between revenue and expenses. The proposal has a caveat—about $477,300 of the increased revenue would be placed in a reserve to help deal with the rising costs of the Public School Employees' Retirement System, commonly referred to as PSERS. The school board is scheduled to vote at its 7:30 p.m. Monday meeting to adopt a proposed final budget, which will then be posted for public review. The meeting will be held at the Pine-Richland …

The Pine-Richland School Board is in the process of adopting a budget for the 2012-2013 school year. The total budget is about $65 million, but a $2 million gap exists between revenue and expenses. Pine-Richland High School's prom at Heinz Field was preceded by the Prom Walk at the school. We know you took pictures. We saw all those cameras. Now we're asking you to share them with the community so everyone can see how beautiful those kids looked!
Like Cinderellas going to the ball, Pine-Richland High School girls in their beautiful gowns climbed aboard white carriages—OK, limos—with their Prince Charmings Friday night and headed to Heinz Field for the annual rite of passage known as Prom. Parent papparazzi snapped photo after photo of the magical moments—here's one with just her, now one with just him. OK, both of them together. Now, let's get mom and dad in the picture .... And on and on until Cinderella and Prince Charming felt they were ready to be "America's Next Models." But, hey. As parents, we have that right ... we want this day to live forever, especially if we're the ones who paid for the prom tickets, dresses, tuxes, flowers, limos, hair dressers, manicurists ... Even …

Dr. Mary Bucci provides information about budget and comparisons to other school districts.
The Pine-Richland School Board has started debating what to do with its 2012-13 budget, which has a $2 million gap between revenue and expenses. Public debate is heating up about the possibility of raising taxes and cutting personnel and programs. Today, Superintendent Mary Bucci released the following letter about the budget. It included the chart and graph to the right of this article. Dear Parents/Community: As you know, the district has been working very hard to balance the budget for 2012-2013. We have excellent teachers and programs, which makes it very difficult to balance the budget. If we had unlimited resources, we wouldn't have difficult decisions to make. These are the same decisions schools have been facing for several …
