What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I have learned a lot in my first term. I would like to continue to help solve problems the district is facing.
What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? A single priority is very difficult. There are so many tradeoffs to be made in public education. I try to focus on what’s right for the kids.
What sets you apart from the other candidates? There’s two of us running for two seats.
What's your favorite thing about the school district? The way the community can come together to help solve big issues. We have a lot of very talented, motivated people in this district.
What is the biggest problem facing the school district? Finding where the balance is between offering the kind of educational experience that the community expects and what is affordable, especially in light of the significant financial impact of reduced funding from the state and federal governments and the potential effect of PSERS [the Public School Employees' Retirement System] on future budget cycles.
