Five Things You Need to Know: School Board Meeting, Footsteps for Recovery 5K, Kayak Tours at North Park

1. Pine-Richland School Board Meeting

What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Pine-Richland officials meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Pine-Richland High School for the school board’s planning meeting.

2. Drum Clinic with Terry Bozzio

Renowned drummer Terry Bozzio will be performing Monday, Sept. 9 at Jergels Rhythm Grille in Warrendale. 

The drum clinic starts at 8:30 p.m. Bozzio also will be joined by Tom Shelly, the head of Universal Percussion.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $13 at the door. Call 724-934-1090 to reserve tickets.

3. PR Orchestra Booster Association Meeting

The Pine-Richland Orchestra Booster Association meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the orchestra room at Pine-Richland High School.  

4. Footsteps for Recovery 5K

The third annual Footsteps for Recovery 5k Run/Walk will be 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Harmar Pavilion in North Park. 

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The event includes prizes, a DJ, Chinese auction and food.

The race is timed by Miles of Smiles and benefits PENED, the Pennsylvania Educational Network for Eating Disorders.

Registration is $25 for adults and $20 for youths. Group rate is $60

5. Guided Kayak Tour at North Park Lake

Explore nature in a kayak and receive paddling instructions courtesy of L.L. Bean at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at the North Park Lake. The cost is $20 per person.

Children must be at least 8 years old to participate. This course takes place every Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 13.
