Five Things You Need to Know: Open Mic Night, Supervisors Meet, Pineapple 5K and Luau

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around town this week.

1. Pine Board of Supervisors Meeting

Find out in person what’s going on in local government. Pine Township’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 at the Pine Community Center on Pine Park Drive.

2. Richland Board of Supervisors Meeting

Learn more about what’s going on in the community as the Richland Township Board of Supervisors meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the municipal assembly room of the Richland Township Municipal Building, located at 4019 Dickey Road.

3. Open Mic Night at Pine Park

Bring a blanket and munchies and head to the Pine Park Gazebo from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 for a variety of live entertainment.

4. Autism Forum

Join the Autism Forum from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Northern Tier Library in Richland.

Find a sympathetic ear, or offer advice from your own experience.  The groups will share joys, triumphs and challenges.

The group meets on the third Saturday of each month and is open to anyone who has a loved one with autism.

5. Pineapple Classic 5K Obstacle Course

The Pineapple Classic 5K Obstacle Course and Children’s Obstacle Course kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Hartwood Acres.

You’ll be climbing, crawling, bouncing and bending all to raise funds for blood cancer research. Anyone 12 years or older can participate. Register as an individual ($55) or in single-gender or co-ed teams of two ($100), three ($141) or four ($181).

The Children’s Obstacle Course is available for anyone 2-11 years old. The cost is $10 per child.

After the race, there will be a luau, complete with steel drums, food and drinks. Prizes will be award for the best Hawaiian costumes and for the fastest teams in all categories.
