Five Things You Need to Know: Night at the Races, Adams Area VFD 5K, Harvest Home Dinner and Festival

1. Pine Board of Supervisors Meeting
Find out in person what’s going on in local government. Pine Township’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3 at the Pine Community Center on Pine Park Drive.
2. Night at the Races to Benefit Make-A-Wish
Coldwell Banker will host a Night at the Races to benefit Make-A-Wish Friday, Sept. 6 at the North Park Lodge. Doors open at 6 p.m., with races following at 7 p.m.
A $25 donation includes beer, food and mixers. There also will be Chinese and silent auctions and a 50/50 raffle.

3. Adams Area Fire District 5K Run/Walk
Registration for the annual Adams Area Fire District 5K Run/Walk kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The race begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 per runner.

The event is a major fundraiser for the fire department and serves as the kick-off to Adams Township Community Day. It also honors the memory of Herb Kaufman, a dedicated community member and service leader.
This year, the department also will be collecting donations for the Macri family, whose home and business in Mars caught fire over the weekend. Thoughtful gifts of cash, clothes, supplies and food are appreciated.
4. St. Alphonsus Harvest Home Dinner and Festival
St. Alphonsus Parish, located at 201 Church Road in Wexford, will hold its annual Harvest Home Dinner and Festival from 1 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.
Besides a family-style home cooked meal, the annual event includes a country store, Chinese Auction, games of chance, raffles, children’s activities and more.
Dinner prices are $10 for adults and $6 for children. Take out is available for an additional $2.
5. Big Rummage Sale at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
One of the region’s largest rummage sales kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 3832 Gibsonia Road.
The sales include clothing sizes for infants, kids, teens, women and men. Proceeds benefit World Vision.
