Five Things to Know: Pine-Richland ‘Kick for the Cure,’ Fall Festival, Bears!

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around town this week.

1. Pine Board of Supervisors Meeting

Find out in person what’s going on in local government. Pine Township’s board of supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Pine Community Center on Pine Park Drive.

2. Pine-Richland 'Kick for the Cure'

The Pine-Richland Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity Soccer teams will host their annual Breast Cancer Awareness “Kick for the Cure” game Wednesday, Oct. 9 as they take on Shaler.

The JV game kicks off at 6 p.m. and varsity game gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

This year, the team will be honoring Eden Hall Upper Elementary Teacher Janice Bagnato, a breast cancer survivor.  The team will donate portions of the proceeds to Gilda's Club of Western PA.

3. Bears! at Northern Tier Library

Those age four and older are invited to explore the world of black bears, polar bears, panda bears and more through puppets, models, and stories. The event takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

4. Zelienople and Harmony Country Fall Festival

Zelienople and Harmony will hold the annual Country Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.

The event includes two days of live music, sidewalk sales, arts and crafts, horse-drawn buggy rides, children’s pony rides, a petting zoo, games, a 5K grandparents walk, a car cruise and much more.

There also will be homemade food, German dinners, a chili cook-off contest and a farmer’s market.

In addition, there are historic encampments and demonstrations, antiques and collectibles.

5. Billy Price Rhythm & Blues

Billy Price, Pittsburgh’s own blue-eyed soul man will celebrate the history of soul music in a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.

Tickets start at $26 and are available by calling 724-444-5326 or online at KeanTheatre.com. Tickets are also available at the Kean Theatre Box Office, 5847 Meridian Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

The backstage bar will open at 6:30 p.m. the night of the concert for cocktails. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.
