Five Things to Know: Pine-Richland Homecoming Festivities, Touch-A-Truck

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Pine-Richland Homecoming Spirit Week

Pine-Richland Homecoming Spirit Week takes place Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. During the week, students will don garb from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

2. Richland Board of Supervisors Meeting

Learn more about what’s going on in the community as the Richland Township Board of Supervisors meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the municipal assembly room of the Richland Township Municipal Building, located at 4019 Dickey Road.

3. Pine-Richland Homecoming Parade

At 6:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, PR alumni are invited to walk in the homecoming procession alongside a variety of floats. Those participating should report behind the high school at 5:30 p.m.

The parade will include alumni, students, JR Air Force ROTC cadets, youth football team players and youth cheerleaders. 

There also will be 245 high school marching band and auxiliary members, the PR Homecoming Court and Miss Pennsylvania, National American Miss, Jr. and Preteen Olivia Scullion and Miss Pennsylvania, National American Miss and Preteen Sydney Rowland.

4. Pine-Richland Homecoming Game and Dance

Pine-Richland will take on Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 for the homecoming game. The PR homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime.

The traditional homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the high school.

5. Touch-A-Truck

The fifth annual Touch-A-Truck Day returns to the Pine Community Center, located at 100 Pine Park Drive, Wexford, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

The community-wide event gives children—and adults—the opportunity to see, touch, interact with and learn about many fun vehicles, including fire trucks and backhoes.

Parental supervision is required and cameras are highly recommended. The cost is $3 for kids younger than 12. There is no fee for adults.
