Five Things to Know: Pine Family Fun Day, Zumba, Mud Challenge

1. Pine-Richland School Board Meeting

What’s going on in your child’s school? Find out in person when Pine-Richland officials meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Pine-Richland High School for the school board’s regular meeting.

2. Family Fun Day in Pine

Pine Community Center will host Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.

The event will include indoor and outdoor activities, a fun run/walk, relay races, healthy snacks, fitness classes and lots of giveaways.

The cost is free for community members and $10 for non-members.

3. Zumba at Northern Tier Library

A six-week Zumba series will be offered at the Northern Tier Library at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 23 through Oct. 28.  A fee of $30 will be charged for the series, or you can pay as you go (space permitting) at $7 per session.

4. Knit Lit

Do you knit, crochet, or craft in any way?  Would you like to learn?  Bring a project, your latest read and join the Northern Tier Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

5. Zelienople Mud Challenge

Are you ready to get down and dirty? The Zelienople Mud Challenge kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Zelienople Community Park parking lot.

The race includes two different courses: a beginner 1.5 mile loop and a more advanced 3 mile loop. 

Obstacles include a muddy pit, tires, army crawling under a cargo net, baby pools filled with mud, hay bales to climb, logs to jump over, dirt mounds to climb up and down, trees to weave in and out of, and crossing a stream.

The cost of the race is $30 for singles, $75 for a family of three, $90 for a family of four and $110 for a family of five.

Those interested in registering may do so by printing out the form and mailing it in or by registering online. The first 200 registered will get a race T-shirt.

Registration also will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. on race day.
