PR Senior Named Finalist for Work With Team Alex Fund

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognize youths' volunteer service.

senior Brian McWilliams was named a finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, according to a Business Wire press release.

The awards are presented by the United States' largest youth recognition program and are based solely on volunteer service. 

McWilliams founded the nonprofit "Team Alex Fund" and raised money through two run/walks. He now has plans to expand the organization to help others overcome their injuries.

The 17-year-old from Wexford has raised more than $50,000 to offset medical costs for Alex, who suffered a spinal cord injury. Alex is the son of Brian's former teacher and coach.
