The Northern Tier Library in February is offering a host of programs that range from scrapbooking to toilet training.

Photos, Friends & Fun

Overwhelmed by your unorganized photos? Discover new scrapbooking ideas, socialize and share from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Northern Tier Library. Bring photos and any supplies you have — tools and pens will be available for your use.  Please register by calling 724-449-BOOK (2665).

Book Discussion Group

The Northern Tier Library’s book discussion group meets on the last Thursday of every month to discuss various works of fiction and nonfiction. The group will meet next at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, to discuss Understanding China by John Bryan Starr. The library encourages you to come and bring a friend.

Knit Lit

Do you knit, crochet or craft in any way? If not, would you like to learn? Bring a project and your latest read for crafting, conversation and fun at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the library. For information, please call the library at 724-449-BOOK (2665).

Dinosaurs!

Go back in time to an earth without humans, when strange creatures towered over tall trees and terrorized the land. Richland resident Tony Palermo, a retired PPG chemist and dinosaur aficionado, will visit Northern Tier Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, to share dinosaur bones, footprints, models and more. He’ll also share stories of one of the most striking and successful groups of beings to inhabit the world. Please register at 724-449-2665.

Introduction to the Internet

Learn how to use a browser to navigate the WWW and use URLs and search engines to find websites at the library from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Registration is required. Please call 724-449-BOOK (2665).

Toilet Training 

Being toilet trained is an important developmental milestone. Dr. Greg Hoyson of Bellevue Pediatrics will discuss suggested guidelines on when to start and what to try at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28. He will also talk about approaches for a less-than-willing child and answer questions.
