Organic Gift Wrapping

Gift wrapping can be such a pleasure and fun when you think outside of the gift box for your supplies.

We are in the throes of the holiday-shopping and gift-giving season, and along with that come the wrapping. Gift wrapping can be such a pleasure and fun when you think outside of the gift box for your supplies.

I always try to use some type of recycled wrapping, whether it is the comic pages, regular newsprint or even paper bags. I use it as wrapping paper and then treat it like the finest material available. Your trim can evolve from what’s on hand in nature, to leftover ribbons, string and twine that can be saved. Make a homemade tag and you have the makings of a beautifully presented present.

Martha Stewart has been known for coming up with the most exquisite wrapping materials that are found supplies. You can too by getting creative and green.  In the midst of the winter holidays, try using a sprig of evergreen, holly with some berries attached and even butcher paper to liven things up.

My kids use spray adhesive and then lightly sprinkle glitter for this festive season.  You can also use leftover fabric and other scrap material and take it from there.

A thoughtful gift always makes more of an impression when it’s treated with kid gloves and tender loving care.
