Kids Bored? Check Out These (Cheap) Summer Activities in the North Hills

Visit some fun and relatively inexpensive attractions in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

We're halfway through summer and stay-at-home moms and dads in the North Hills area are listening to their kids yell, "I'm bored!"

Get your children out of the house and explore some of the fun, and rather inexpensive, attractions in the North Hills area. We got these ideas from the 20 Things to Do In Pittsburgh for Under $20 blog.

1. Soergel Orchards (Free admission, cost varies for other items)

Soergel Orchards has cheap and healthy fun for the whole family. You can pick your own blueberries, and weekly Sunday night corn roasts begin July 14, with special activities planned for each event. There are also multiple play areas, tractor rides, a greenhouse and a petting zoo. Don't you remember when Tom and Suri Cruise were there?

2. North Park Boat House (Free to visit park, rental rates vary)

Rent kayaks, bikes, rowboats, canoes and pedal boat through Kayak Pittsburgh. Or, just enjoy the playgrounds near the boat house.

3. Western PA Miniature Railroad Museum ($6/adult or $4/child)

The purpose of the Gibsonia museum located at Route 910 and Hardt Road is to promote and preserve the history of railroads in western Pennsylvania through the hobby of model railroading. There is a HUGE indoor miniature railroad inside.

4. Jump Zone ($9/child for open play)

The Allison Park center is a bounce house dream for any little boy or girl looking to release some energy.

5. Fun Fore All ($5/person for Ballocity)

There's mini golf, go-karts, kiddie rides, bumper boats, batting cages, an arcade, Ballocity and a rock wall. It's like Chuck E Cheese on steroids and with better prices, according to the Curious Little Kid blogger. Fun Fore All is located in Cranberry.
