Eric Kasperowicz Era Begins at Pine-Richland

The former offensive coordinator succeeds Clair Altemus as the Rams head football coach.

Eric Kasperowicz takes the field Friday night for the first time as the Pine-Richland head football coach.

Pine-Richland visits Fox Chapel in its season opener. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Kasperowicz, the Rams former offensive coordinator, was hired in February to succeed Clair Altemus, who announced his retirement after the 2012 season.

"I'm excited for the opportunity and eager to get started," Kasperowicz said at the time.

Before coming to Pine-Richland, Kasperowicz coached and played at North Hills High School under legendary coach Jack McCurry, who retired in January after 35 seasons with the Indians.

Here's what the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Mike White has to say about the Rams prospects this season:

"New coach Eric Kasperowicz has a number of returning starters who played last year as juniors or sophomores. Seven starters return on offense and five on defense from a team that missed the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Quarterback Ben DiNucci completed 103 of 175 for 1,219 yards last season, and Connor Slomka ran for 1,031 as a sophomore."

Below is the Rams regular season schedule:
