Reminder: Pine-Richland School Board to Vote on New Superintendent Monday

The board has narrowed the search to a single candidate from a neighboring school district.

The Pine-Richland school board is expected to vote at tonight’s school board meeting on whether to appoint Dr. Brian R. Miller as the new superintendent of schools.

Miller currently is assistant superintendent of K-12 education at North Allegheny School District. He would replace Dr. Mary Bucci, who resigned in December after officials voted 5-3 not to renew her contract when it expired this year.

School Board President Peter Lyons said in an email notification to parents Friday evening that officials settled on Miller as Bucci’s replacement after a great deal of research and several rounds of interviews.

“Dr. Miller has an excellent record of accomplishment at North Allegheny School District, where he began teaching in 1996,” Lyons wrote in his letter to parents.

Prior to becoming assistant superintendent at North Allegheny, Miller was assistant superintendent for secondary education and curriculum, assistant superintendent of curriculum, principal at Carson Middle School and the assistant principal at Ingomar Middle School within the North Allegheny School District.
