Principal Named for New North Catholic High School

Class is set to begin at the Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School in Cranberry in fall 2014.

Kellie Abbott, from Pittsburgh Public Schools, has been named the principal of Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School.

 "After the completion of  an extensive search and interview process for a  faith-filled, highly qualified and exceptional educational leader for the new Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School, we are pleased that Ms. Kellie Abbott has accepted the position as principal and chief executive officer for our new school," stated Dr. Robert Paserba, secretary for Catholic education and evangelization. "The educational  experiences and background that Ms. Abbott brings to the position are exemplary, as well as her personal and professional  commitment to serving our students and our families."

Abbott holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Notre Dame and master's in education administration and policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She is working toward a doctorate in education (school leadership) at Pitt.

Most recently, she served as a literacy coach along with working in curriculum, instruction and professional development in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Abbott served as the lead principal for the school district's principal development program.

With 16 years of progressive experience as an educator, Abbott has worked as a principal in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, principal and assistant principal in the New Kensington Arnold School District and secondary English teacher in the Seneca Valley School District.
