PR Football Coach Clair Altemus Retires, Trib Reports

Altemus retired from his job as athletic director as the end of the 2011-12 school year.

Longtime Pine-Richland football coach Clair Altemus has decided to retire, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The 60-year-old coach retired as Pine-Richland School District's athletic director at the end of the 2011-12 school year, but coached the football team this fall to a 2-5 WPIAL Class AAAA Northern Eight Conference record and 4-5 overall.

Altemus told the Trib it was time to move on after a career that includes 38 years as a coach and eight years as a player. He said retiring would give him more time to travel and spend time with his family.
