PR Field Hockey Ready to Score for ‘Play4theCure’

The team is selling one-of-a-kind T-shirts for a fundraiser event.

The Pine-Richland Field Hockey team is doing “Whatever it Takes” to beat cancer.

The team recently joined up with the Play4theCure fundraising campaign sponsored by the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

As part of the effort, the Rams will donated proceeds from the upcoming match against North Allegheny on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Pine-Richland stadium to the foundation.

The junior varsity game kicks off at 6 p.m. The varsity game takes at 7:30 p.m.  

Admission to the game is $5, and all proceeds will be donated to NFCR. The team also will be collecting general donations and selling T-shirts for $10 each. Baked goods will also be available to raise additional funds.

Players on the Pine-Richland team will be embracing the “Whatever it Takes!” theme by wearing special one-of-a-kind event T-shirts designed by Pine-Richland sophomore Erica Davis. They also will rock pink socks on their feet in honor of the cause.  

For winning the design contest hosted by the field hockey organization, Davis will receive a $50 certificate from Utrecht.
