Pine-Richland to 'Travel Through Decades' for Homecoming 2013

Everything you need to know about this year's event.

Pine-Richland students and alumni will get a blast from the past when the district celebrates homecoming Oct 4-5.

This year’s theme is “PR Travels Through the Decades.”

To get ready for this year's event, the district will hold Homecoming Spirit Week Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. During that week, students will don garb from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

The Parade

At 6:!5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, PR alumni are invited to walk in the homecoming procession alongside the floats. Those participating should report behind the high school at 5:30 p.m. 

The parade will include alumni, students, JR Air Force ROTC cadets, youth football team players and youth cheerleaders.

There also will be 245 high school marching band and auxiliary members, the PR Homecoming Court and Miss Pennsylvania, National American Miss, Jr. and Preteen Olivia Scullion and Miss Pennsylvania, National American Miss and Preteen Sydney Rowland.

The procession will make its way toward the stadium, where visitors will be able to enjoy food and spirit-wear booths. 

Those wishing to rent a booth will need to secure their space by Sept. 27.

The Game and The Dance

The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. as the Rams take on Central Catholic.  The PR homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime.

The traditional homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the high school.

The district is looking for parent volunteers to help students decorate the hallway and cafeteria at 8 a.m. that morning. Contact sponsor Brittany Pikur for details at bpikur@pinerichland.org

More Activities 

Homecoming organizers also are working to finalize a date and time for a PR Powder Puff Football Game and wing-eating contest.

Students also will be building floats from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2. The freshmen class is seeking space to build its float.
