Pine-Richland Schools to Close Tuesday, Delay Opening Wednesday for Hurricane Sandy

After-school activities on Tuesday are canceled also.

Pine-Richland School District will be closed Tuesday and will delay opening by two hours on Wednesday.

Elementary school Halloween parties still will be held on Wednesday, Hathhorn said. If schools close on Wednesday because of the weather, however, the parties will be postponed until Friday.

PRSD to Close Tues., Oct. 30, 2012 Pine-Richland School District is closing school on Tues., Oct. 30, 2012 in anticipation of potential problems associated with the inclement weather.  The campus will be closed, so any scheduled after school practices and/or activities will be cancelled.  

 Playoff Games Delayed Please check the athletic hotline for changes in games. Volleyball & soccer playoff games scheduled for Tues., Oct. 30 are being delayed to same time until Wed., Oct. 31, 2012. Please check the athletic hotline at 724-625-4444, ext. 7 for updates. 

 PRSD to Follow Two-Hour Delay Wed., Oct. 31, 2012 A two-hour delay (with Modified Kindergarten) is also being issued for Wed., Oct. 31, 2012. Please monitor updates for Wed., Oct. 31, 2012 by visiting our website at www.pinerichland.org and/or monitoring radio & television reports. 

This early decision allows the district to communicate effectively and for parents to make schedule adjustments. However, please take time to review our procedures for follow-up communications and future delays and/or closings. Through out the year, we want you to stay informed, so please read our procedures below our township message. 

 Gov. Tom Corbett issued a state of Emergency in Pennsylvania.The state is bracing for heavy rains and high wind gusts which could knock down tree branches and disrupt power lines.   

 As always, safety is an important priority at PRSD.

 What to Expect in Regard to Halloween Parades   

Parades in the primary buildings (Hance, Richland & Wexford Elementary Schools) will still go as planned, during a two-hour delay on Wed., Oct. 31, 2012. However, if the district closes on Wed., Oct. 31, the parades will be delayed until Friday, Nov. 2, 2012.
