Pine-Richland School Board Settles on New Superintendent

After narrowing the search to a candidate from a neighboring school district, officials will vote Monday on a replacement for Dr. Mary Bucci.

Pine-Richland School District could have new leadership in place by Monday.

On Friday evening, School Board president Peter Lyons sent an email notice to parents, which also can be found on the district’s website, informing them that the officials have narrowed their search for a new superintendent to one candidate.

The board plans to vote at Monday’s school board meeting on whether to appoint Dr. Brian R. Miller as superintendent of schools.

Miller currently is assistant superintendent of K-12 education at North Allegheny School District. He would replace Dr. Mary Bucci, who resigned in December after officials voted 5-3 not to renew her contract when it expired this year.

Lyons said Miller was chosen as Bucci’s replacement after a great deal research and several rounds of interviews.

“Dr. Miller has an excellent record of accomplishment at North Allegheny School District, where he began teaching in 1996,” Lyons wrote in his letter to parents.
