New Principal Hired for Richland Elementary
Gene F. Nicastro will officially start his new job Jan. 16.

The Pine-Richland School Board unanimously approved the hiring of Gene F. Nicastro, 33, on Monday. His annual salary will be $93,300.
He will replace who is leaving in January to take a job as assistant superintendent for Plum Borough School District.

Nicastro will officially begin his new job Jan. 16. He said he will spend time at Richland Elementary in the interim, meeting people and learning about the school.
Nicastro has been an elementary school principal for six years at Fairmount Primary Center in Brackenridge Township, which is part of the Highlands School District. Previously, he was an elementary school teacher in the Riverview School District in Oakmont.

He received his bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and his master's of education from the University of Pittsburgh.
Nicastro lives in Lower Burrell with his wife, Tiffany, who is an English teacher at Gateway Middle School. The couple has two daughters, ages 1 and 4.
