Deadline is Friday for Pine-Richland Students to Pay Activity/Athletic Fee

The deadline for payment of new activity/athletic fee is looming.

Those failing to pay by the deadline will be deemed ineligible to participate in various activities, including the prom, according to the district's policy.

At a school board meeting earlier this week, Assistant Finance Director Ryan Manzer said the district was at about 52 percent of where it wanted to be in the collections.

An automated payment system makes it easy to pay online via credit card or electronic check with no additional costs.

The district encourages online payment, but also accepts payments sent by regular mail. 

The district's website outlines the fee as follows:

• The Pine-Richland School Board approved an $80 activity fee at its planning/regular board meeting July 18 for each student in grades seven through 12.  
• Payment of the fee will allow each student to participate in an unlimited number of sports and student activities. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunches will be exempt.

• The fee will offset costs of supplemental payments to administer activities, athletic programs and clubs that take place after school hours. Click here for a list of activity, athletic and club programs requiring a participation fee.
