Best in Show: Pine-Richland Takes Home Four Awards at Student Film Festival

PR-TV students competed with more than 30 school districts from around the area.

Pine-Richland students are making video magic—and winning awards for it.

On Tuesday, 18 students from the high school’s TV Production, Advanced Video Production and Video Production attended the 20th Annual Robert Morris University's TVT Student Film Festival.

The teens competed with student from more than 30 school districts around the tri-state area in the festival.

The awards were presented to the following:

  • Patrick Hampson (Senior): 3rd place in the student-judged "Music Video" category for his video for the song You.
  • Alex Lynch and Pat Hampson (Juniors)-Award of "Excellence in the Show Introduction" category for his video "PRTV Main Introduction."
  • Dave Randolph (Junior)-Award of Excellence in the "Public Service Announcement" category for his video "Don't Drink and Drive."
  • PRTV Class: Award of Excellence in the "School Announcements" category for "PRTV News."

PR-TV is a TV production class open to seniors who have completed video production and advanced video production classes.

Students learn the skills necessary to produce television programs within a studio environment, according to a description on the school district's website.

PR-TV is broadcast on Armstrong Cable on digital cable channel 211 and regular cable channel 50 while Consolidated Subscribers can view PR-TV's programs on channel 404.
