The 2011 book draws upon his experiences in rural Ghana to challenge assumptions about globalization, food access and climate change, that drive development policy.

Carr serves as a climate science adviser in the Bureau for Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
