What is Your Pine-Richland Neighborhood's Median Income?

'Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks' Map is color-coded to show you the median income for your neighborhood. The Pine-Richland area is coming up green and that's a good thing.

An interactive map at the Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks website offers a glimpse at median household incomes, by neighborhoods, in the Pine-Richland area—or anywhere in the country.

Take, for instance, the areas around Pine-Richland High School and Wexford Elementary. The median income is $145,668.

The numbers are compiled by census tract. The tract that includes Richland Elementary and Eden Hall Upper Elementary has a median income of $77,216. The Hance Elementary area's median is $91,663.

In comparison, the statewide middle-class income range is $44,750 and $54,425. The information for the map is obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau's 2007-2011 American Community Survey.

Well, Bill, I suppose that is one way to look at it. However, I don't think it's any secret that this is a high-income area. Besides, of all the burglary cases I've covered, none of them use maps.
