Pine Supervisors Award $1.6 Million Roadwork Contract

El Grande Industries of Monessen was the low bidder.

Pine's Board of Supervisors unanimously approved El Grande Industries of Monessen as the low bidder Monday for nearly $1.6 million in roadwork in the township.

Four contractors submitted bids for the 2011 roadway and storm sewer improvements.

The contract calls for road work on Karrington Drive, Drake Drive, Gander Drive, Oak Haven Drive, Cloverdale Drive and Court, part of Bradford Drive, Snowberry Lane, Brown Road, Pine Cone Court, Stone Haven Court and Bonnieview Drive. Spot repair will be done on Church Road.

In other business, the supervisors voted unanimously to approve contracts for the 2011 supply and delivery of unleaded and diesel fuel.

Export Fuel Co. of Greensburg received the contract to provide gasoline to the township at a total bid price of $3.0943 per gallon with a margin of $.0449 and a rack price of $3.0494.

Purvis Brothers of Mars received the diesel contract for a total bid price of $3.3675 per gallon and a winter diesel price of $3.4175 per gallon with a margin of $.089. The diesel rack price used in the bid is $3.2785.

These prices vary because the rack price fluctuates, explained Town Manager Cheryl Fischer. The rack price is the price at which refineries sell gasoline to clients.
