Pine Supervisors Approve $2 Million Contract for Road and Storm Sewer Improvements

Shields Paving selected to do the work.

The Pine Board of Supervisors awarded a $2 million contract to Shields Asphalt Paving of Valencia on Monday for road and storm sewer improvements.

A separate $62,700 contract was awarded to Matcon Diamond for road maintenance and crack sealing on township roads.

For the first time, the township will try a product called Forta-Fi to reinforce asphalt on select roads, said Assistant Township Manager Scott Anderson. Reinforcing fibers are mixed into the asphalt to strengthen it and ultimately prolong the life of roads, according to Forta-Fi's website.
