Jackie Evancho Tweets That She'll Sing at National Prayer Breakfast

The young singer will perform Feb. 2 in Washington, DC.

Jackie Evancho has once again.

"So excited to be singing at the annual National Prayer Breakfast. I get to meet the President again!!"

The annual breakfast will be held Feb. 2 at the Washington Hilton.

The president, members of Congress and foreign dignitaries are among the thousands who attend the invitation-only, $650-a-plate event.

The breakfast is hosted by members of Congress and sponsored by the Fellowship Foundation, also known as the International Foundation and "The Family."

Wonderful news. We can all speculate as to what Jackie Evancho will sing. She has recently recorded several numbers that would fit the ocasion. I am afraid "The Lord's Prayer" might be too one sided for this diverse group. Jackie's Uncle Matt's "To Believe" would be a great song and certanly fill the bill. But I think "Imaginer" may be chosen as a universal cry of the Great Creator "sitting on the edge of His Great Heart - sheding a tear over the beautiful creation He has made - and realizing how much it has been distorted." "We can have it all back again" He says, "If we can believe again".

I'm always astonished but I guess I shouldn't be. Wow! Thanks for story Cindy. You are always right on top of news about Jackie!

Maybe she could sing "A Song for Assata"- no wait- that was a different WhiteHouse guest singer. ;-) Ms. Evancho is a true national treasure and is befitting the status of this event. She will show what true class looks like. She is an excellent and appropriate choice. I can't wait to hear her!

This will be a great opportunity for everyone attending to experience Jackie Evancho live. This will be a performance that will once again amaze President Obama and family. They are very fortunate!

Of all the great singers in this country, they chose Jackie to sing at the annual National Prayer Breakfast. Excellent! Go, Jackie!! Alex Moss, Columbia, SC

It's not only a great honor but also a fantastic opportunity. Besides the President, the audience consists of members of the House and Senate, industry leaders and intenational dignitaries. I hope she gets to do two songs like Alison Krauss did at last year's event. I know Jackie will shine and will win the hearts of all in attendance! Joe Merkt Thompsons Station, TN

Mannny Thanks again , Cindy and staff for searching Twitter and keeping us up-to-date on Jackie Evancho who has made major steps to bring peace in our time through her music around the world. The audience before the royal family of Japan was really BIG. NOW she will sing for the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington shortly after she gets off a plane from the west coast. All of this further raises my hopes that the Mayor and city council of Pittsburgh will consider giving Jackie an official title. As I have said before, in 2008 she became "the Ave Maria Girl". In 2009 Jackie was the unofficial "Princess of Pittsburgh". Without Question she became the "SweetHeart of America" in 2010. Now with her success as an ambassador of Peace, Love, and Harmony from America to the people of the world (regardless of religous affiliation), Jackie needs a 'a reallly big' title. Before the US government jumps in there and spoils OUR thunder, I want the city council to proclaim Jackie Evancho - officially - "The Princess Of Pittsburgh". Present her with a scroll and a tiara. I'll gladly buy the royal robe. (she can always wear it to sing "Nessun Dorma") - - - - ((WoW)) - - - - - PLEASE Forward this to the necessary Powers-that-be in pittsburgh. (or tell me who to send it to) Fred

Fred, I think Sempi aka Alex Ross may have contacts there and could possibly help here. Please remember though Jackie has stated many times that she does not want to be a princess, perhaps "Musical Ambassador" is more appropriate. Joe Dumlao San Francisco, CA

Yes, Joe, you're right about Sempi. He contacted the office of Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl about declaring Jackie Evancho Day back in October. I'm not sure if they bestow titles, but you can give it a try. Here is a link that tells you how to contact the mayor's office. http://www.pittsburghpa.gov/mayor/contact.htm Good luck!
