I-79 Bridge Improvements Continue Friday and Saturday Near Warrendale

There will be overnight single-lane traffic in each direction on the highway.

Be prepared for orange cones over the weekend.

Work to improve bridges on Interstate 79 at the Warrendale interchange will take place Friday and Saturday, weather permitting, according to PennDOT.

Crews will be installing compression seals on the new bridge that carries I-79 over Warrendale-Bayne Road. The following restrictions will occur:

  • Single lane closures (two lanes open in each direction) from 8-10 p.m. on Friday night.
  • Double lane closures (one lane open in each direction) from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. on Saturday,
  • Single lane closures (two lanes open in each direction) from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The work is included in a $10 million project to improve the I-79 bridges over Warrendale-Bayne Road and Mingo Road. The prime contractor for the project is Swank Construction Co. LLC of New Kensington.

Overall work is expected to conclude in late June.
