For Sale: Street Signs for A Truly Unique Holiday Gift

A nearby township has a gift that might have your name on it.

While we might dream of having a street named after us, only Elvis and other celebrities seem to get that honor.

But if you are willing to settle for just your first name on a street sign, then we've got a deal for you or the person in your life who is looking for that street-name honor.

Cranberry Township is selling retired street signs for $25 each, just in time for the busy holiday season in which so many of us wonder what to get for the person who has everything [except a street sign].

Anna Marie, Ellen, Cameron, Stacy, Rose, Jane, Joan, Joyce and Whitney are all in luck. Those are just a few of the names, including family names, on the retired Cranberry street signs now for sale by the township.

But wait, there's more.

Mystic Pine sounds good for someone with a cabin or a room in their home that they wish was a getaway cabin. So does Hunting Ridge Trail. How about Leatherbark or Bear Run or Autumn Hill?

Partridge Drive has a "12 Days of Christmas" sound to it, but no Pear Tree signs are available. How about Persimmon Drive?

Going for a deer theme? There's Doe Ridge and Fawn Trail and Deerfield Drive.

Valley Forge Drive has a presidential sound for the Washingtonian among us.

The markers became available when Cranberry’s public works department began to replace its older street signs, including signs that were damaged, defaced or replaced following roadwork, a statement from the township said.

In the past, the signs were scrapped or stored away to reuse their metal.

To purchase a sign, buyers may go to the customer service desk inside the during regular business hours with the names of the signs they want to buy.

All signs, regardless of condition, are priced at $25 each, plus state sales tax, for a total of $26.50. Cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

If you could name a street, what would you call it? Do you see a name on the Cranberry sign list that you like? Tell us about it in the comments.
