Chamber to Host ‘Meet the Candidates’ Night for Vulakovich and Brown

On Tuesday, July 31, The Chamber of Commerce Inc. will hold a “Meet the Candidates” night for voters to mingle with Vulakovich and Brown. The chamber serves North Pittsburgh, Northern Allegheny and the Cranberry areas. 

The free event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Wexford office of The Chamber at 5000 Brooktree Road.

Brown, a Democrat from McCandless, and Vulakovich, a Republican representing the 30th District in the state House of Representatives, are running in the Aug. 7 special election to become the next state senator in Pennsylvania's 40th district.

The winner will complete the term of former , who was convicted in May and sentenced to prison in June for using her state-paid staff to do campaign work.

No matter who wins the race to replace Orie, they may not get the chance to run again for the 40th District.

A revised legislative map approved  moves the territory—which encompassed parts of northern Allegheny County and southern Butler County—to Monroe and Northampton counties on the eastern half of the state to reflect growth near the New Jersey border.
