Isuzu Runs Into Back of Chevrolet in Heavy Rain

A 2000 Isuzu NPR driven by John Peluso, 20, of New Castle, ran into the back of another vehicle in Pine Township on July 25 during a heavy rain, according to a Northern Regional Police Department report.

A 2001 Chevrolet Express driven by Pavel Shlyahovsky, 27, of Canonsburg, had stopped around noon on Wexford Road near North Chapel Drive when it was hit, police said.

Man Hospitalized After Crashing Into Tree

A 19-year-old Gibsonia man was hospitalized July 25 after the 2008 Subaru Impreza he was driving crashed into a tree on Babcock Boulevard in Pine Township, police said.

Hunter Pellegrini, of Gibsonia, was transported to UPMC Passavant Hospital by McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority after complaining of neck and back pain, the police report said.

The accident occurred about 9:15 a.m. between Logan Road and Gran Sasso Lane, police said.

Pellegrini told police he was traveling south on Babcock Boulevard when he lost control of the Subaru on a wet curve, the report said.

Failed Brakes Blamed for Rear-End Collision on Route 19

A 1987 Chevrolet S-10 ran into the back of another vehicle on Route 19 after its brakes failed July 21, according to a police report.

Joseph Bisceglia, 57, of Seven Fields, told police he pressed his brake pedal to stop for a red light, but the brakes failed and he ran into the back of a 2009 Kia Sportage, the report said.

The Kia was driven by Diane Demblowski, 62, of Allison Park. It had minor damage to the rear bumper, said police.

The 6 p.m. accident occurred at 11150 Perry Highway in Pine Township, between Fieldview and Lake drives, the report said.

Police noted brake fluid was coming out of the bottom of the engine.

 

Hit and Run at Babcock and Route 910 in Pine Township

An 86-year-old man told police his 2005 Jaguar X-type car was struck by another vehicle around 4 p.m. July 18 as he pulled through the intersection of Babcock Boulevard and Route 910 in Pine Township, police said.

Dale Sacia of Allison Park told police the other driver did not stop. He said he was unable to provide a description of the vehicle.

The driver’s side door and front fender of the Jaguar were damaged, but the car did not need to be towed, police said.

Sacia and his passenger declined medical attention.

 

Hyundai Runs Into Back of Pickup Truck

An Apollo man said he had work on his mind July 13 when he ran into the back of a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck while it was stopped on Bakerstown Road near the Babcock Boulevard intersection, police said. 

Terence Damico, 24, was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra when the accident occured around 5:30 p.m. in Pine Township, said police.

Ethan Poczynski, 18, of Gibsonia said he was stopped in traffic, waiting for another vehicle to make a left turn into the , when his Ford pickup was rear-ended, the police report stated.

 

Man Hospitalized After Three-Vehicle Accident

A Valencia man was transported to a hospital July 11 after a three-vehicle accident on Route 19 in Pine Township, according to a Northern Regional Police Department report.

Gabriel Fontana, 36, was transported to UPMC Medical Center North by McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority, said police. Fontana reported a back and left arm injury, according to the police report. 

His newly purchased 2011 Ford F-150 ran into the back of another vehicle that was stopped to turn left into Wexford Professional Building at 11676 Perry Highway [Route 19], police said. 

That vehicle -- a 2008 Ford F-350 -- was driven by Fred Scheel, 66, of Freedom, police said. 

The midday collision pushed the 2008 Ford forward and left because its wheels were turned, police said. The 2008 Ford crossed both northbound lanes and went up over a curb and a small traffic island before running into an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of the Wexford Professional Building, police said.

The parked car -- a 2007 Toyota Avalon owned by John J. and Grace Herbert of Freedom -- was forced sideways out of its parking place, said police.

After the collision, the 2011 Ford continued to travel south on Perry Highway until it stopped at an angle in the left center lane, police said.

 

Teen Loses Control of Vehicle on Curve, Hits Tree

A 17-year-old female from Gibsonia was transported to UPMC Passavant on July 8 after she lost control of her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and struck a tree while rounding a curve on Bakerstown Road, police said.

She was traveling east on Bakerstown Road, past Brierly Lane in Pine Township, when she spun off the road, police said.

The female was treated for a head injury by McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority and then transported to UPMC Passavant, police said.

 

Jeep Cherokee Hits Deer on Mars Road

An Evans City woman was traveling on Mars Road in Pine Township about 10:40 p.m. July 6 when her 2010 Jeep Cherokee struck a deer that ran across the road, police said.

Donna Diehl, 64, of Evans City, was driving south on Mars Road just past West Grove Trace, police said.

Medics from McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority checked her after she complained of pain in her left shoulder.

The Jeep’s front bumper, front left fender and hood were damaged, according to the police report.
