Traffic Blotter: Two Rear-End Collisions Reported at Route 19 Intersections in Pine

Northern Regional Police Department provided the following information.

Not keeping one's foot on the brake can lead to rear-end collisions, which two motorists found out at different Route 19 intersections in Pine Township.

Ronald Kottler, 77, of Pittsburgh, told police he ran into the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado on Friday afternoon when he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while stopped at the Route 19-Church Road intersection, according to a police report.

Police identified the Silverado driver as 19-year-old Justin Rieg, of Pittburgh.

On March 26, Zachary Fiscus, 21, of Cranberry Township, told police he took his foot off his Volkswagen CC's brake pedal and drifted into the back of a Jeep Liberty as he waited to make a left turn onto Wallace Road from Route 19, said police.

Zackary Magill, 24, of Callery, drove the Jeep.

McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority responded to the accident, but the vehicles' occupants refused medical treatment, the police report said.
