Careless driving citation issued for collision at Church Road and Route 19.

Vehicles Collide on Route 910 Near Allison Road Intersection

A 2005 Honda Civic swerved to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle on Route 910, crossed the center line and collided with an approaching 2007 Jeep Wrangler, according to a report from Northern Regional Police Department.

No injuries were reported, police said.

David Gerber, 21, of Allison Park, was traveling east on Route 910 around 5 p.m. April 16 when he saw a vehicle waiting to make a left turn onto Allison Road, police said.

“Mr. Gerber stated he applied his brakes and swerved to avoid colliding with this stopped vehicle and in doing so his vehicle crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle,” according to the police report.

Brian Westrom, 35, of Tarentum, told police he hit his brakes and tried to move to the right when he saw the car cross into his path, but he could not avoid the collision, police said.

Dropped GPS Navigation System Leads to Crash

A 73-year-old New Castle woman traveling east on Route 910 around 5:45 p.m. April 13 ran into the back of another vehicle when she reached down to retrieve a GPS navigation system that had fallen on the floor, according to Northern Regional Police.

Edith Code told police that when she looked back at the road, she saw a 2003 Honda stopped in front of her and could not stop in time, according to a police report. Code’s 2005 PT Cruiser had to be towed.

Doris K. Robertson, 77, of Gibsonia, told police she had stopped to make a left turn onto Allison Road when her car was hit from behind, according to the police report.

Both women refused medical treatment, police said.

Collision Occurs in Northtowne Square in Richland Township

A 2008 Mazdaspeed3 had to be towed April 15 from the Northtowne Square parking lot in Richland Township after it collided with another vehicle, police said.

Kyle Honzo, 24, of Seven Fields, was entering the plaza westbound on Northtowne Drive about 3:45 p.m. when he collided with a 2011 GMC Acadia driven by Jill Pearsall, 28, of Valencia, police said.

Pearsall had been stopped at a three-way stop in the parking lot on a northbound road that intersects with Northtowne Drive, police said. She pulled from the stop sign and hit the left front side of Honzo’s car, police said.

Honzo did not have a stop sign, according to police.

Careless Driving Citation Issued for Collision

A collision occurred April 14 when a 2007 Subaru Outback tried to pull around a car stopped at the intersection of Church Road and Route 19, police said.

A traffic citation for careless driving was issued to Kelly White, 47, of Pittsburgh, according to a report from Northern Regional Police Department.

Robert Pentecost, 58, of Pittsburgh, had stopped his 2003 Hyundai Elantra at the stop sign about 3 p.m., then was slowly pulling forward and stopping as he checked for traffic on southbound Route 19, said police.

White attempted to pull around his vehicle and hit the rear driver’s side with the front passenger side of her Subaru, police said.

Pentecost received a cut above his left eye but refused medical treatment, police said.
