Traffic Blotter: Slick Roads, Collisions and A Deer That Runs Into a Land Rover

Northern Regional Police Department provided the following information.

One Injured in Rear-End Collision

A Butler woman was injured Feb. 17 when her Chevrolet Malibu ran into the back of a Ford stopped on Warrendale Road in Pine Township, according to a police report.

McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority transported Michelle Hildenbrand, 39, of Butler to UPMC Passavant Cranberry after she hit her head on the windshield and complained of dizziness, police said.

She told police she did not see the 2005 Ford Expedition stopped between East Ridge and Oak Park drives around 3:45 p.m. until it was too late to stop, the police report states.

Hildenbrand's Chevrolet was towed.

Two Vehicles Crash at Intersection of Pearce Mill Road and Route 910

Two vehicles collided Feb. 17 at the intersection of Pearce Mill Road and Route 910 when one made a left turn in front of the other, police said.

Two witnesses said Wendy Elliott, 39, of Wexford was talking on her cell phone when she attempted to turn left onto westbound Route 910/Wexford Road in Pine Township.

Elliott denied she was on her cell phone, police said.

Sharon Ehrler, 50, of Cranberry Township was traveling straight through the intersection on Pearce Mill Road about 3 p.m. when Elliott's 2008 Land Rover turned in front of her, said police.

Both vehicles were towed.

 

Woman Loses Control of Car on Ice Patch

An Evans City woman lost control of her Toyota 4Runner on a patch of black ice and sideswiped a utility pole about 7:45 a.m. on Feb. 17, police said.

Ami Halin, 38, was southbound on Babcock Boulevard near Gran Sasso Lane in Pine Township when the accident occurred, said police.

 

Deer Runs into Land Rover

A deer died after it ran into the driver's side door of a 2007 Land Rover about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 17 on Warrendale Road in Pine Township, police said.

Neva-Lee Ravotti, 40, of Gibsonia was driving near Dean Road when the accident happened, police said.

 

Toyota Prius Slides on Ice Into Rear of School Bus

No injuries were reported when a Toyota Prius slid into the back of a Monark school bus about 7 a.m. Feb. 15 in Richland Township, according to a police report.

Rachel Florian, 18, of Gibsonia told police she slid on ice on Applewood Drive near Vineyard Drive, police said.

None of the 27 children onboard Monark bus No. 811, driven by 44-year-old Laura King of Valencia, was injured, police said.

 

Four Vehicles in Chain Reaction on Route 19 

A Honda Accord set off a four-vehicle chain reaction about 8 p.m. Feb. 15 on Route 19 near Brown Road in Pine Township, Northern Regional police reported. 

Pittsburgh resident Rita Z. Schindler, 64, told police she did not notice traffic had stopped in front of her in the left lane as she prepared to move into the right lane, police said.

Schindler's Honda ran into the back of a 2001 Toyota Camry driven by Emma Wharrey, 22, of Allison Park, said police.

It ran into the back of a Honda Accord driven by Jean Kress, 60, of Pittsburgh, which bumped into the back of a Chrysler 300 driven by Phyllis Taormina, 51, of Conway, according to the police report.

 

Dodge Durango Runs Into U.S. Postal Service Truck

A Dodge Durango ran into a U.S. Postal Service truck about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at a four-way stop on Meridian Road in Richland Township, police said. 

Wayne Ehlinger, 56, of Monroeville told police he was not familiar with the area and only looked to his right when he came to the four-way-stop intersection with Dickey Road, said police.

When he continued north on Meridian, he ran into a postal truck driven by 62-year-old Daniel Molnar of Russellton that was crossing the intersection in front of him, according to the police report.

 

Ford Explorer Sideswipes Utility Pole, Hits Small Trees

A Mars woman driving a Ford Explorer ran off Babcock Boulevard, traveled about 100 feet, sideswiped a utility pole and hit several small trees about 5:45 p.m. Feb. 14, police said.

Lori Schneider, 49, lost control on a wet curve while it was sleeting in the area between Gran Sasso Lane and Logan Road, said police.

The Ford was towed.
