Traffic Blotter: Two Injured in Collision After Dodge Caravan Runs Red Light

Northern Regional Police Department provided the following information.

Two people were injured Oct. 15 when a Dodge Caravan ran a red light and collided with a Saturn on Route 8 in Richland Township, according to a Northern Regional Police Department report.

Richland EMS transported the Saturn driver and passenger—Paul Lyons, 37, and Logan Lyons, 6, of Valencia—to Allegheny General Hospital after the 7:30 a.m. accident, police said.

The police report states the Caravan, driven by 71-year-old George Durrant, of Pittsburgh, ran a red light as the Saturn was turning left onto Route 8 from Sandy Hill Road.

Deer Hit by Hyundai Goes Airborne, Struck by BMW

A Hyundai traveling east on Route 910 near North Chapel Drive in Pine hit a deer that "went airborne" into the westbound lane where it was hit by a BMW about 6:45 p.m. Oct. 15, according to a police report. 

Police identified the BMW driver as Brett Leone, 21, of Gibsonia; a 16-year-old from Gibsonia drove the Hyundai.

 

Saturn Runs Into Toyota at Pine-Richland High School Entrance

A 17-year-old making a left turn from Warrendale Road into the entrance to Pine-Richland High School collided with a Toyota RAV4 traveling in the opposite direction about 6:55 a.m. Oct. 15, police said.

Police identified the Toyota driver as 57-year-old Haluk Oran, of Gibsonia. The 17-year-old drove a Saturn.


Ford Focus Hits Deer on Pearce Mill Road

A Ford Focus struck a deer that ran in front of it on Pearce Mill Road in Pine Township about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 9, police said.

Michael J. Fultz 25, of Mars, was traveling north in the 300 block of  Pearce Mill Road when he struck the deer with the right front bumper, police said.

 

Porsche Strikes Deer That Runs in Front Of It

A Porsche hit a deer that ran in front of it on Route 910 in Pine Township about 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7, police said.

Sakineh Ghorbanian, 69, of Gibsonia, was approaching the Reynolds Road intersection when the deer ran out of the woods in front of the Porsche, according to police.

The deer ran into the woods after the collision.

 

Vehicles Collide at Trinity Lutheran Church Entrance

Two vehicles collided about 10 a.m. Oct. 7 at the parking lot entrance to Trinity Lutheran Church in Richland Township, police said.

Ruth Weinman, 70, of Gibsonia, told police she saw a Chrysler Town & Country as she turned left out of the church parking lot onto Dickey Road, but she could not stop in time and struck the minivan, according to the police report.

Police identified the minivan driver as 32-year-old Lisa Eversole, of Gibsonia.

 

Truck Runs Into Hyundai at Route 910-Allison Road Intersection

A Hyundai Sonata turning left onto Allison Road from Route 910 in Richland Township was struck by a truck about 10:45 a.m. Oct. 6, police said.

Richland EMS transported the Sonata driver—Paul Calderone Jr., 64, of Emlenton—to UPMC Passavant Hospital for a shoulder injury, according to the police report.

The truck driver—Garrett P. Fend, 33, of Butler—told police he saw the Sonata ahead of him slow down and start to make a left turn, but he could not stop in time to avoid the collision, police said.

 

Man Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes Into Pole

A Tarentum man fell asleep while driving about 6:20 a.m. Oct. 5 and crashed into a utility pole on Bakerstown Road in Pine Township, police said.

Michael W. Graham, 41, was traveling east near 5018 Bakerstown Road when he fell asleep and veered off the right side of the road, police said.

When he awoke, he steered hard to the left to avoid a utility pole, but hit it on his Ford Ranger’s passenger side, according to the police report.
